Dear Friend,

I’ve been reading a lot of Post Secret recently… it acts as a great stress reliever because I’ve been bottling up some crazy emotions in just working my way through the day. All in all I feel like I’ve been too busy to do things that are worthwhile… I love the classes I’m in, and enjoy the time I spend in class, but some of the work outside of class just feels so pointless to me aka. “do I really NEED to write about this if we’re already talking about it in class…” this semester has just been feeling so hectic and crazy… but also lonely. I have some of my closest friends super far away, true, but I’ve also been struggling to make time for the friends that are here! I see my roommates everyday, but I haven’t been able to just hang out an laugh with them for WAY too long. Anyways, so I’ve been using Post Secret as a short-term coping mechanism until I have can actually do what keeps me sane in the long-term. It’s all about self-care, right?

But actually, the reason I’m bringing all of this up is that I received a beautiful care package today from my church family and I felt like the only way to express how much I appreciated it was to create a Post Secret-like image that combined words with pictures… and maybe that’s just because I’m a visual person, but I think also because Post Secret is like poetry, where a little says a lot.

Love, Mandi Jo

P.S. I suggest creating your own little postcard images… even if you don’t send them off into the great unknown… it can be a great way to express yourself.

P.P.S. I believe in you too…
