Dear Friend,

Have you ever noticed that once you reach the age of about 12, all your friends care about is who you like??? I had a male best friend (in addition to other friends) all through elementary and the beginning of middle school (we’re still friends today, just from a greater distance) Well I began to notice the change in perspectives in 3rd grade when people suddenly wanted to know if we liked each other. Seriously, we had been friends since we were 5, were they insane??? It was obvious that boys were no longer considered to have cooties  (although I think the cooty stage was a very short stage for me.)

In all honesty I don’t think many girls have a “type” they DO however have someone who “Isn’t their type” this belief of mine stems from personal reflection and general observation. For example, I have “liked” guys with all different colors of hair, eyes, personalities, hobbies, and habits…in fact I don’t think I can find a single similarity that they ALL posess. Oh wait, I just did. Personality. The guys I’ve liked have always appeared to be comfortable with themselves. Is that crazy? No, I don’t think so. Apparently I appreciate diversity and confidence. There have been guys that I “liked” for about a week, before realizing that what I had originally seen as confidence was actually cockiness, but there have also been guys that I liked for several years. Why am I telling you this? Well, I have no clue, but my guess is because you have one of two problems A) You are a girl and go through the same exact things I do or B) you are a guy and want to understand the recesses of a girls mind…unfortunately this post won’t help you no matter which boat you’re in becasue every person, situation, and relationship is different (sorry to disappoint.)

yeah well this has been a rambling of nonsense…and it’s gotten to the point where I don’t know what I’m trying to say so I’ll come back later and continue this in a more organized manner…

Love, Mandi Jo
